A simple sound sculpture that has it all.

The high quality of Pang®, a composite material developed by PANArt, gives the instrument very good tuning stability as well as protection against corrosion. Its low damping and the high speed of bending waves propagating in the whole shell strengthen the intensity of the tone impulse.

PANArt's art of tuning is apparent in the harmonic interplay of the prestressed and tuned vessel with the air resonance in its cavity. The frequency of the air resonance is 87 Hertz (F2). This pitch can be lowered by up to one octave by hand. The circular area around the opening of the vessel is called the ringding and tuned to F3, C4 and F4. It serves a double function: a sound source as well as a place to excite the air which produces the strong pulse-like bass.

Also the Ding side (F3) of the Hang Balu Urgu is tuned to the Helmholtz resonance and allows the vertical play. We demonstrate the different ways of playing in the video.

In order to perceive the deep sounds produced by the air resonance in the Hang® Balu Urgu's cavity, we recommend you to listen to the videos with good speakers or headphones.

The Hang® Urgu has a height of 24 cm, a diameter of 52 cm and weighs 3.9 kg. It comes well-protected by a natural fiber case and a backpack (made in Germany).
