The sound sculptures of PANArt
For more than 25 years, sculptures have been created in the PANArt studios in Bern (Switzerland) whose shape and sound have attracted the attention of many people around the globe.
The PANArt soundsmiths work with a material they developed themselves, composite pang, which they hammer into a spherical plexus in a loud and intense creative process: The result is a network of subtly tuned, gently arching sound fields. An inner pressure is created in the plexus, which is ordered into a shapely and stable cosmos of sound.
The work, completed into a vessel, then holds a rich world of sound that invites the player to explore it in free-flowing intuitive play and to form it into music of his or her own character.
The video gives an insight into the inner acoustic geography of a Hang sculpture.
